There have been persistent rumours of the intention of a landowner in the Mt Eliza / Mornington green belt area to seek an adjustment to the urban growth boundary. The land in question is believed to be a parcel immediately abutting the existing boundary, close to the coast.
I wish to place on record my total opposition, and that of the State Government, to any change in the long-standing urban boundary on the southern reaches of Mount Eliza.
The boundary has been in place for some decades, and it has been understood by successive generations of Peninsula residents that its location was permanent.
I will not support movement of the boundary under any circumstances. The Baillieu Government has proposed the introduction of a Peninsula specific planning policy to protect the Peninsula for the long term.
No relocation of the boundary will be considered.
