Mornington MP David Morris has called on the Brumby Government to drop it’s crazy proposal of removing the seats on Frankston Line trains.
“Victoria clearly has a public transport crisis. It is standing room only on most trains, and it is particularly bad on the Frankston Line. Removing the seats, which seems to be the government’s preferred strategy, is not an option” said Mr Morris.
“The only solution the government can come up with is removing the seats and giving us standing room only trains.”
“This simply is not good enough for those travelling on the Frankston Line – the trip from Melbourne is long. It is hard enough for a passenger who is young and fit, but it is much harder for those who are neither.”
“People on the metropolitan fringe need practical improvements to the system now. We cannot, as the government seems determined to do, rely on a strategy that develops little more than promises in time for the 2010 election” said Mr Morris.
