Mornington MP, David Morris has urged the Minister for Health to find extra funding for Frankston Hospital.
Speaking in parliament last week Mr Morris said “On this governments watch the number of people on the waiting list in category 2 has almost doubled and the number who have had to wait for over 90 days has more than tripled.”
“To suggest that the report card for Frankston Hospital shows real improvement is just plain wrong.”
“It is only through the efforts of the management and staff that despite the pressure they are under they fully achieve their targets in the critical area of category 1 emergencies. But with the funding available you cannot cover all areas, and that is obvious from the most recent ‘Your Hospitals’ figures.”
“The number of patients waiting on trolleys in the emergency department for more than 8 hours increased by more than one-third in the past year.”
“In the last twelve months the priority list for elective surgery has blown out by two-thirds.”
“Because of this Governments tight-fisted attitude Frankston has been unable to meet six out of nine benchmarks. The Hospital is totally under resourced to meet the challenges it faces and to meet legitimate community expectations”.
