Recreational Fishing Grants Program

15 April 2010

Mornington MP David Morris is encouraging angling clubs to apply for grants under the Recreational Fishing Grants Program through the Department of Primary Industries.

Mr Morris said two separate programs are on offer to groups from March 29, 2010. The first is a small grants program which is continually open to fund small recreational fishing projects up to $5,000 (GST exclusive). The second is a large grants program for projects from $5,001 to $100,000 (GST exclusive).

The small grants program will be open all year round, while the large grants program will close on Monday May 31, 2010.

$600,000 (GST exclusive) of Recreational Fishing Licence Trust Account funds is available to successful projects under the large grants program.

Applications to the large grants program are being sought in the following four funding categories, however whilst applications will not be limited to these areas, applicants are encouraged to identify projects that would benefit recreational fishing in Victoria.

  1. Fisheries’ sustainability and habitat improvement
  2. Fishing access and facilities.
  3. Fisheries-related education, information and training.
  4. Recreational fisheries-related research.
For further information on the programs and to access application forms, phone the Department of Primary Industries on 9658 4779 or visit their website at www.dpi.vic.gov.au
