Nominations sought for Women’s Honour Roll

09 November 2011

The Mornington area has been called on to honour its inspirational women by nominating them for the 2012 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

David Morris MP, the Member for Mornington, encourages Mornington community organisations and individuals to nominate women from this area.
“Nominations can come from any sector of the community, for example, health, science, law, social justice, arts, media and education.
Mr Morrissaid the Honour Roll acknowledges and pays tribute to women from across Victoria who have succeeded through vision, leadership, commitment and hard work.
“The Victorian Honour Roll of Women recognises inspirational women who have made an impact at a local, national or international level.”
“The women we honour are those who have made a personal contribution that has positive, lasting impacts for women and for the broader community.”
Since its inception in 2001 as part of Victoria’s Centenary of Federation celebrations, 478 women have been included on the Honour Roll.
The new inductees will be announced as part of International Women’s Day celebrations in March 2012.
Nominations are open until 21 December 2011 and application forms and guidelines can be found on www.women.vic.gov.au, or by contacting the Office of Women’s Policy at the Department of Human Services on (03) 9918 7345.
