Mornington MP David Morris has called on Peninsula residents to have their say on the local taxi industry.
The Victorian Taxi industry Inquiry, chaired by Professor Allan Fels AO, was established by the State Government last March, and has been asked to undertake a comprehensive investigation of the taxi and hire car industries.
Taxis are an important part of the local transport system, and provide flexibility not available in traditional public transport modes like buses or trains, and extend access to areas not served by the established routes.
The inquiry is required to provide a series of recommendations to Government focussing on the achievement of better outcomes for the traveling public.
Mr Morris said "A crucial aspect of the inquiry is to better understand what people say, and what people feel about taxi services throughout Victoria, including the Mornington Peninsula. By taking the ten minutes required to complete a survey form, Peninsula residents can provide valuable feedback about our local taxi system, and how it might be improved."
"For further information, people can go to www.taxiindustryinquiry.vic.gov.au, or contact my office for a copy of the survey"
