Mornington MP David Morris has welcomed a belated State Government decision to fund a bus stop upgrade opposite “The Mornington” retirement village in Tyabb Road, Mornington.
“The Government has only now agreed to act despite my repeatedrequests to fix the problem”.
“For too long residents at “The Mornington” have been expected to make do with a temporary gravel stop, marked only by a sign. A situation that is both unsatisfactory and unsafe.” Mr Morris said.
“The only access to the stop is via a steep, grassy and dangerous slope. The stop itself is an unformed dirt verge, wet and muddy in winter, hot and dusty in the summer, with no protection from sun or rain.”
“In spite of an extensive bus stop refurbishment program in early 2008 this location was once again overlooked because of additional costs in sealing the road shoulders”
“I am pleased that the Ministers have finally come to their senses and found the money to provide a safe environment for Mornington bus travellers.”
