On another matter, last week it became apparent that Minister Madden had refused to grant heritage protection to 743 Esplanade, Mornington.
That decision means the loss of a priceless piece of Mornington’s heritage and the destruction of one of the principal gateways to the town. Local residents have fought a long, hard but ultimately futile battle to protect the character of this precinct.
I would like to commend Genevieve Rogers, the councillors of the Mornington Peninsula Shire and all who have worked so hard to preserve our living history.
