Mr MORRIS — On another matter, Speaker, I was extremely pleased that the Mornington Railway Preservation Society and the friends of Mornington foreshore organisation together with the shire council will receive a total of $14 500 as part of the government’s Bush Guardians grants program.
The Mornington Railway Preservation Society’s Friends of the Snow Gums group received its grant to decrease the population of weeds, in particular watsonia.
The Mornington Peninsula shire with the friends of the Mornington foreshore group will receive a grant for the Mornington‑Mount Martha foreshore reserve to continue previous works done in reducing polygala and grass weed threats to a stand of orchids.
These grants highlight the hard work done by so many volunteers and the great contribution they make in maintaining our public spaces and in protecting rare and endangered species.
I extend my congratulations and thanks to them all.
