Mr MORRIS (Mornington) — I am delighted to report to the house that Mornington Park Primary School has received a $50 000 NAB Local Impact Award for school‑community partnerships that demonstrate improved student outcomes.
The partnership between Mornington Park Primary School and Jacobs and Lowe‑Bennetts has contributed directly to improved learning opportunities by providing a free breakfast twice a week to all children who attend. A choice of cereals, juice and toast is offered, and a hot breakfast is offered in the cooler months. Fresh fruit is also provided by the Mornington Community Information and Support Centre.
The Breakfast Club teaches healthy eating habits and engages the students in wellbeing and life skills programs.
The partners’ staff serve breakfast one day a week and read to the students immediately afterwards.
Congratulations to Mornington Park’s principal, Bev Dadds, and her staff and students and to award partner, Peter Skewes of Jacobs and Lowe‑Bennetts real estate, on a job well done!
